Walking to the computer lab this is what I see, matadors typing effortlessly, I got a passion for my class and I ain’t afraid to show it; I’m nerdy and I know it.

The gateway to glory, also known as one of the two entrances to the computer lab.

International Program-

We all agree that the International program is a great thing for this college. Our group has experienced the difficulties in moving from country to country and how tedious it is. We have watched our family in Mexico come seek education in this country only to be bombarded with paper work and red tape. We have dealt with these matters first hand so what better place to go than AWC? Arizona Western College has a campus that is sprawling with life and opportunity.  Arizona western college has one of the best international programs available for students looking for a broader outlook on desert life. Whether you are currently attending or still undecided, AWC offers you an affordable and multicultural atmosphere. From Brazil to Russia, the international program unites students from all parts of the world, bringing a great deal of understanding and diversity to the college setting. This is the front view of the Cafeteria

Being hungry is no joking matter, as a college student most of us have a very tight budget. Between tuition, overpriced books and the cost of transportation we are left with a very limited income and a harsh question, where to eat? AWC cafeteria “tries” to meet the needs of students and faculty. There are different opinions to the efficiency and cost of a meal plan. The truth is that like any other public service AWC cafeteria has its supporters and those that are against it. Pros and cons are always easy to find at any establishment that is built to accommodate diverse types of people. It might be safe to say that when the cafeteria addresses many of the needs of the average student there are still several things that could be improved to best serve our pockets. The truth is that no matter how much the system changes there will always be nonconformist, and as a student I can’t blame them. Who wouldn’t want to get the most for their hard earned money? So my biggest question would be why should I eat at the AWC cafeteria? Continue reading “Lunch Time”

What Has 1 Arm, 1 Leg and No Money?

Just about all of us, as college students in this day and age, have trouble handling all the finances involved with college. I think we can all agree that it is hard to get through college without financial help from relatives, especially when we’re buying $200 books that we’ll only use for one semester and often not at all. Fortunately for us, we have the financial aid office, and now we don’t all have to spend an arm and a leg to put more weight in our school bags. Continue reading “Financial Aid at AWC”

AWC: Da Gameroom

College is generally seen as a place for hard work and learning. Students always seem to be stressed and in need of time for leisure and require some sort of entertainment. For this reason, gamerooms were created across campuses worldwide to quench the thirst that students desire for their entertainment needs. AWC has jumped on the bandwagon on having a gameroom for their student body. Continue reading “AWC: Da Gameroom”

Let’s be clear about this, there is nothing enjoyable whatsoever about the whole admissions process. It can either be really bad, or not as bad as you expected it to be. AWC is one of the largest college’s in the region, it is ranked #19 in Arizona according to collegestats.org. With “over 12,000 people” enrolling every year, and around 7,000 full-time students, it’s best to register early in order to avoid ‘’the chaos’’. Starbucks: The Caffeine Rush Corner

English 101-006

One place for students to meet or get a caffeine fix is our campus Starbucks. It is a welcoming environment that offers food and drink as well as a lounge area for students to meet or wait for their next class. Our Starbucks is located in the 3C building by the cafeteria. They typically have three baristas working at a time. Its hours of operations are Monday through Thursday from 6am to 9pm, Fridays from 10am through 3pm, Saturdays from 10am through 3pm, and closed on Sundays. It is a fairly new addition to our campus. If you ask a majority of college students or staff members, they will say it is the best addition to the campus so far. If you look around any given classroom you can find at least one Starbucks drink. After reading about our experiences and our research, you will understand why we believe Starbucks is a great place to meet with friends. You will also have your own ideas and opinions about Starbucks. Continue reading “Starbucks: The Caffeine Rush Corner”

The 101 on Parking

Jonah, Valerie, and Kelsey

English 101-012

Background

The parking at AWC is everywhere around the campus. There are 17 different parking lots on the campus. Most are a viable to everyone but a few are restricted for dorms and living cottages. The biggest parking lots, #1-#5 are located on the South side of the campus. Lots #7-#9 are located on the East side of campus and #10-#14 are on the North side. Parking lots #15-#17 are restricted parking lots for the dorms and cottages. The newest of all 17 parking lots are lots #1 and #2 and are also the biggest on campus. Lot #1is covered parking because of the overhead solar panels that act as covered parking also making a great use of the surface area. Parking lots #4, #7, #9, and #10 are decently sized parking areas on campus where as the rest of the of the parking areas are a smaller sized area. You can always get a map on campus or get one here.
