Being hungry is no joking matter, as a college student most of us have a very tight budget. Between tuition, overpriced books and the cost of transportation we are left with a very limited income and a harsh question, where to eat? AWC cafeteria “tries” to meet the needs of students and faculty. There are different opinions to the efficiency and cost of a meal plan. The truth is that like any other public service AWC cafeteria has its supporters and those that are against it. Pros and cons are always easy to find at any establishment that is built to accommodate diverse types of people. It might be safe to say that when the cafeteria addresses many of the needs of the average student there are still several things that could be improved to best serve our pockets. The truth is that no matter how much the system changes there will always be nonconformist, and as a student I can’t blame them. Who wouldn’t want to get the most for their hard earned money? So my biggest question would be why should I eat at the AWC cafeteria? Continue reading “Lunch Time”

AWC: Da Gameroom

College is generally seen as a place for hard work and learning. Students always seem to be stressed and in need of time for leisure and require some sort of entertainment. For this reason, gamerooms were created across campuses worldwide to quench the thirst that students desire for their entertainment needs. AWC has jumped on the bandwagon on having a gameroom for their student body. Continue reading “AWC: Da Gameroom”

Let’s be clear about this, there is nothing enjoyable whatsoever about the whole admissions process. It can either be really bad, or not as bad as you expected it to be. AWC is one of the largest college’s in the region, it is ranked #19 in Arizona according to collegestats.org. With “over 12,000 people” enrolling every year, and around 7,000 full-time students, it’s best to register early in order to avoid ‘’the chaos’’. Did you know that math might be a struggle for many people? Some might have the natural talent to understand it just like that. But most people who struggle with math might be afraid to get help. That’s where this place comes into play. It’s the help of the Math Student Success Center at AWC. It’s a wonderful place for students to receive help and feel at ease at the same time. Are branch college campuses supposed to be as big as the actual college? What might be the advantages or disadvantages for students, teachers or staff members? Here at the San Luis Learning Center we have different expectations as well as perspectives about the structure and size of the building. The San Luis Learning Center, constructed in 2007, is located aside from San Luis High School and it’s a single building in which a good quantity of students attend each day. For some of us the size of this college is advantageous, and for other students it might not be quite as beneficial but instead unhelpful. Students, as well as teachers and staff members, have different opinions about this particular subject that we have to deal with day by day.

Have you ever found yourself struggling with homework or class assignments? Have you ever felt like you aren’t getting enough help from your professor? If you have ever felt this way then I am sure you have never visited the writing center. I recommend you visit the writing center located at the San Luis Learning Center. I am sure many students have not heard of it, since it was barely opened last semester. They should get the chance to go and get the help they need.

DIVERSITY IN COLLEGE: How important is diversity on a college campus? Does it really help students or hurt them? These questions have been the topic of debate among both college students and educators for a long time. Many people feel that it is both necessary and unnecessary as well. In a constantly expanding world, some feel that the lack of diversity is hindering students from learning and preparing them for the ‘real world’. However, some students say that they feel more comfortable in environments where there are people just like them and have an easier time relating to those people as well. Being students at the San Luis Learning Center, we know what it is like to walk into school every day and be surrounded by the same group of people.
